Bio
Dr. Shahzad is working as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Construction Engineering Department at Northumbria University (NU), Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (2014) and a BSc from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Pakistan (2007). He is a Chartered Engineer from Engineering Council UK and a Fellow of AdvanceHE UK.
Dr. Shahzad led the renewable energy and water generation research lab and education at Northumbria University. He conducts multidisciplinary research on the water-energy-environment nexus and trains the next generations of scientists capable of developing innovative solutions for sustainable water and cooling production, renewable energy harvesting, and smart grid integration and control strategy for process optimization. The main objectives of his research group are: (i) Reduce emissions from water and cooling processes to achieve net-zero goals, (ii) Protect marine life through innovative water treatment cycles, (iii) Provide clean water and a comfortable environment to enhance individual human life, (iv) Promote renewable energy harvesting and utilization at domestic and community level to enhance the quality of life, (v) Protect and enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services and (v) Build a domestic green economy through technology entrepreneurship.
